Now working on this piece for June show - measuring 10'w x 31'l x 5'h.

Finishing up this piece - model for large installation. Measures 6'6"l x 4'w x 22"h and fits in my purse. As in previous pieces, there are no structural supports in the piece. It is simply constructed of organza and thread.

3-dimensional weaving using translucent materials.

New Lighting Piece

This piece measures w44" x d24" x h19.5" - an attempt to make smaller scale works.

Introducing an artificial light source, I am sewing LEDs into the bottom of the fabric to make the piece as simple as possible.
With the fluid nature of the piece, it can be arranged and adjusted easily.
Figured out how to get more undulation in these pieces from one master pattern.

Off to Korea

This is the completed piece which is on its way to the Cheongju International Biennale in Korea. Basically a 3-D quilt constructed of only organza and thread, the piece is a study in structure and collapsibility as well as and light and shadow.

This is the new landscape piece I am working on for a show in Korea. It is simply organza and thread - the seams are giving it structure as well as the box pattern of the sewing. It can be folded and packed up.

Now it's outgrowing my basement...



To light or not to light? I prefer natural light myself... allowing you to see the subtle transparencies, shadows and layers.

Fresh start...

Picking up where I left off years ago with a new textile piece which will be an abstract landscape.

The patterns are pulled off of the Rhino renderings and then sewn on my home machine. The final piece will not be as rounded because of shrinkage from the seaming.

About Me

My first bachelors degree was in business/marketing from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. After 6 years working as a copywriter in traditional and interactive advertising agencies in New York, Hong Kong and Boston it was time for a change. What I really was craving was to make things with my hands. I'd always wanted to go to the Rhode Island School of Design (who wouldn't after finding out that the Talking Heads met there?) and found myself in the industrial design department. What was really enjoyable was that this program combined technology, math and precision with fine art, form and material study. I received a BFA with honors and worked as a designer for Pink Inc, a tensile fabric structures company in NY. Now I am happily working for myself on a variety of sculpture and design projects.
